Operation Infiltrate the Black Community Phase Two…

I guess I came back from my little vacation just in time…
I knew it wouldn’t be long before the next chapter in audacity on the part white gays organizing for gay marriage here in California were back at it and up to their old tricks.
Their latest offense towards Black people comes in the form of an announcement that Equality California, one of those predominately-white gay marriage groups that screwed up royally on Proposition 8, is opening up an office in Inglewood and beginning canvassing and mobilizing efforts in the area, including Baldwin Hills. Although, I seriously doubt they’ll be canvassing in the Jungles, they’re more interested in the voters at the top of the hill if you know what I am saying.
And so over the next few months what will happen is that the white gay community will hire Black faces, temporarily, to walk through the hood and convince those that they look like to support the white gay agenda of gay marriage. Why? Because although they need to show that they are reaching out to Blacks, they are not actually going to do the reaching out. They’ll set up a store front office in Inglewood, hold the occasional town hall meeting in what they consider to be a “safe” Black neighborhood like Leimert Park or LaDera Heights, all while using Black faces as their pass into our neighborhoods. Still not understanding that it’s not enough to simply knock on doors quoting statistics, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his wife Coretta.
Their announcement reads…
Join Equality California, Vote for Equality, Jordan-Rustin Coalition, RENWL, Stonewall Young Democrats and Equal Roots on Saturday, July 11th for a voter canvass to win marriage back. Equality California has been working with Vote for Equality to develop a ground-breaking canvass operation. We have recently partnered with the Jordan-Rustin Coalition in an effort to spark more dialogue about same-sex marriage in communities of color. We will train you on how to talk to voters one-on-one and do the hard work of changing hearts and minds. Please come out and join us.
Just like you don’t walk up into someone else’s church preaching your own religion, or hold an event in another elected’s district without a courtesy call, you cannot just set up shop in the Black part of town and push your agenda forward just because you want to and have the means.
If and when gay marriage becomes an issue that Black same-gender loving people want to take up, we will and we won’t have to move-in to the hood to do it because we are already here or be trained on how to talk to Blacks because we already know. To us Black people aren’t allies and communities of color, they are our people and we have always known how to talk and when to talk to our people. The issue of gay marriage is no different. I am of the mindset that Blacks—gay or straight—do not to push the agenda of others. To the extent that our agenda includes gay marriage—it will be because we decided to include it. Not because of some COINTELPRO like operation out of West Hollywood developed to infiltrate the Black community.
Case in point, the Jordan Rustin Coalition, Operation Infiltrate the Black Community Phase One, a group that was started by the same gays in West Hollywood moving into Inglewood because they felt that Black gays weren’t doing enough to fight for gay marriage. Hmmm–maybe we are doing other things that are just as important. Maybe we’re not. Either way, it’s awfully white of them to start a Black gay group to do their bidding, don’t you think?
The group bills itself has a Black civil rights group for lesbians and gays but does nothing more than push the white gay agenda for marriage onto the Black community by holding the occasional town hall meeting in Leimert Park. The one part of the Black community they now and feel safe in thanks to gentrification. At these meetings, they use their Black surrogates to tell Black people why gay marriage is a priority.
This group doesn’t do anything non-gay marriage related in the Black community—and what I mean by that is that you won’t catch the Jordan Rustin Coalition at the community meetings dealing with Black issues or out on the streets in the hood registering Black people to vote. In fact, last year instead of helping to register Black voters, they wanted Black gays to go to Pasadena for a Sing Out for Coming Out Day. While I agree that encouraging Black gays to “come out” is generally a good thing—if and when we decide to hold a coming out event, why the hell would we do it in Pasadena?
I use this example to prove to you the continued misunderstanding of priorities of Blacks by gays and the ego and superiority complex that dictates the lengths to which gays will go to micromanage and push their agenda on Blacks.
And in their hurriedness to promote marriage for all above all else to Black people—they failed to understand that it probably isn’t a good idea to start a Black gay group and then hire someone who is not Black to run it. But that’s just what they did anyway.
It’s a slap in the face to the Black lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community who are once again being stepped on and over in the pursuit of gay marriage by their white counterparts—first with the shameful No on Proposition 8 campaign, then with the blaming of Blacks for its passage, and now with this.
And some of you may be reading this and saying, but isn’t she a lesbian? Yes, I am, but I am also a sista and an active member of this community who, regardless of the cause, is not about to sit by and allow Black people to be exploited so that yet another organization can come in and exploit us for their cause while raising hundreds of thousands of dollars to do it.
It is absolutely mind baffling how white gays claim to want to work with the Black community but all of their actions dictate the exact opposite. And they wonder why there’s little support for gay marriage on our end, even from their own counterparts. For many it has less to do with homophobia and more to do with outrage and disgust at the attitudes and actions taken on the part of a Movement that seems think that when it comes to Blacks, they can buy their way in—first with our elected officials and now by coming into our communities and offering jobs to us to exploit us.
Think about that this Saturday as they head out onto the streets of Inglewood in first canvassing and mobilization efforts. And if by chance one of them should come knocking on your door, don’t be fooled by the Black face that the door. Behind the Black face lies an organization of white folks who are waiting to take your answers back to their main offices and West Hollywood so that they can sit around a conference table and analyze your responses to figure out why Black people feel the way they do about gay marriage. Don’t help them and this is coming from a lesbian—a Black lesbian.

What are you talking about? There isn’t a “white gay agenda” any more than there is a black gay agenda. Personally, I’m a bit tired of all the EQCA bashing. First it was because they didn’t have people of color. Now it’s they only hired people of color to pass the white gay agenda. Before the election people complained that the campaign didn’t reach out to people of color, now that they are, people are attacking them for “infiltrating”. EQCA has learned from their mistakes and has made numerous changes, but some people just can’t let go. Let’s not divide our community any more than it already is. Let’s all work together on what should be the only TRUE gay agenda. Full equality under the law.
So now white people aren’t allowed to talk to black people? Really? That’s audacity? That’s an offense? Really?
The funniest part about this article is that Jasmyne is basing her outrage on stuff that hasn’t even happened (“And so over the next few months what will happen is…”).
Or maybe it’s this: “you cannot just set up shop in the Black part of town and push your agenda forward just because you want to and have the means.” Um, you can’t? Why not? And how about a real explanation instead of analogies to churches to elected officials.
I thought the right to get married is a matter of civil rights; not a matter of race. It’s unfortunate that this issue has to be connected with the issue of white racism (gay or straight).
I support the rights of gay people to get married. However, I don’t support racism. So where does that leave me in your argument?
I am kinda over you bashing the white gay community when the black gay community isn’t reaching out. I love how you say the white community doesn’t do anything for the black community. Jasmyne, get a clue and use your efforts to do the following:
1. organize your black gay community since you are the “ideal” spokesperson for them. Let me see the faces. If you already have something going on, let us know in a nice detailed blog posts so that we can join you.
2. continue to organize your black community and call for them to invoke change.
3. Be positive.
I am black and I know that white gays are more active for the cause. I know that because every event I go to for equality, I am one of 3 black gays there sadly because we are at home. You let a concert of something happen(party etc), black gays are present and accounted for. So, please….please…please. I would rather see you being a PUNDIT saying something intelligent(because you certainly are) than taking up this route to BASH others. There is racism in the white gay community already without you having to fan the fire everytime. Thank the Lord they actually understand that it takes blacks to talk to blacks. Now, at those events I attend, I can actually see a face I know and we can work together to ensure that 1. my friends with bination partners can be together
2. healthcare is recognized for all gay couples. Our issue is EQUALITY. We need to be able to live everyday and visit out families, We need to be able to actually walk down the street without being bashed. We need to be able to be EQUAL and not have to suffer from a complex. GET IT TOGETHER.
In fact, after all of that, I am going to start my recruiting now to organize my people. BLACK PEOPLE let’s get it going. We will be such a powerful force that we will not only solve some issues within the gay community but the BLACK community.
Hey OveritJasmyne,
Have you ever thought about it like this. There are some folks who are really concerned about keeping a job due to this economy. Now I think most Gays just want the same shared civil righs as women and minorities. I think the issue here is that WHY is marriage being made the main agenda as oppose to FULL EQUALITY.
I’m not defending Jasmyne at all she has her angle and others have theirs. But the division between races in our community isn’t anything new at all. There are many blacks and hispanics that migrate into the main gay association circles regadless of how they’re treated and then some just choose to assimilate amongst their own and that isn’t a crime. It’s a matter of a comfort zone.
But lets look at our MAIN Gay civil rights groups. How many minorities are on the BOARD OF DIRECTORS????
Last I checked NONE…Can soneone please correct me. We all need to sit at the table and then understading of each other can truly be understood. Because I can’t speak for someone who is NOT a part of my fabric and vice-versa.
It’s really time the division in our community be put to a end!
WOW I just saw your poll. Talk about racists. Yes, there are people in CA that are fighting for marriage equality, and want to do it in an inclusive way that includes all races, backgrounds, nationalities, religions, genders, etc.
Your poorly constructed and misleading poll only has 2 answers to it including:
“Yes, white gays know best when it comes to gay marriage and Black people” and
“Hell to the no, these white folks have got to go!”
Your polling question makes an assumption that white people are pushing their own agenda by using black people. I have a lot of black, asian, latino, and middle eastern friends that complained that the No on Prop 8 group didn’t include racial minorities. Some of them are now involved with marriage equality organizations and are happier now that the movement includes a more diverse group of people.
Your article (and now poll) insinuates that people of different races can’t work on the same issue. It sounds like you are pushing for segregation. That’s so 1960’s.
The POINT is.. why don’t the RACIST WHITE GAYS pay Jasmyne $60,000 a year to help her put FOOD ON THE TABLE!!!
Even though she on a diet, she still need to inflame ignunce. Aman?
Thank you for finally telling the truth.
I love just upside of Crenshaw, and am so weary of being awakened every morning with loud knocks on the door, which are (in order)
1) LAPD “Homicide”
2) Jehovah Witnessing
3) 2 White Teenage “Mormons”
4) “Can you help me win a contest?” magazine sales personnel and
5) White Punk Ass Gays Trying to Sign a Petition
I slam the door in ALL of they face!
Eventually, ALL people should grow up and get over looking at race, gender, nationality, sexual orientation period. Jasmyne is just as guilty, if not more so, than Equality California with her use of racist terms. Red, blue, black, white, gay, straight, Jewish, whatever… civil rights are civil rights. You either support equal rights for all, or you don’t. Stop the whiny crap and crying over whether or not an interest group campaigned in your particular neighborhood or not, or their “perceived” notions for doing so or not doing so. You either support the cause or you don’t. In this case, a lesbian African American woman (Jasmyne) not supporting civil rights for gay couples just because they are not tiptoeing around her ethnicity is just plain childish.
Jasmyne sounds like a big whiny baby to me. She needs to grow up and stop using race as an excuse for her own racist feelings toward white people.
So, now blacks, and every other person of color should be “thankful” that now Marriage Equality movement include people of color. Shame on all these white racist gays..really..first you preach fairness, equality as you kick blk (and other colored) assess in your networks, board, organizations..yes Chris I totally agree, these racist white gays are just hoarding power and they are the ones who stand to gain most from this marriage politics…
listen to me loud and clear you all white racist gays with one org or another….stop coming into our neighborhoods..leave our hoods alone and stop sending your fake agents..they do nothing but hurt your cause..so stop using your token to hijack our communities..we know an ugly token when we see one.
and you go girl, don’t let this racist shit get you down…
“these racist white gays are just hoarding power”
I can’t even fathom the idea that there are people so out of touch with reality that they would even think something like this, let alone try to use it as a credible statement. It’s a truly pathetic attempt to justify your racist attitude toward whites and gays. Nobody wants your “power”, and nobody owes you anything. As far as “gaining from marriage politics”, black gays stand to gain just as much as white gays. Stop playing the victim, its just lame and makes you look like a fool.
Homophobic, black, lesbian women… Coretta Scott King would be so proud.
First I want to acknowledge Jasmyne’s and other’s concerns about racism within the lgbt community and within lgbt organizations. I think many people can understand the concern. We all want unity and fair representation but what we often see is a white gay community that doesn’t concern itself with broader interests of a truly diverse community.
There is ample evidence to use in criticizing the white lgbt community and lgbt orgs when it comes to race. AMPLE. It is not a race card, it is not whining (a racist accusation), it is what we live with as people of color and unless you experience that first hand, you should not be so quick to dismiss these concerns in such a racist way. The amount of racist comments in response to this blog are typical and further illustrate the problem: RACISM HINDERS OUR PROGRESS AS UNITED COMMUNITIES AND WE NEED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT NOW. If you are okay with the continued racism and xenophobia of the lgbt community then you are in better company with the Minutemen, the ADF, the Westboro Baptist Church, the KKK and the National Alliance.
Although I understand the concerns about racism, I would also criticize Jasmyne’s attack of lgbt people of color and their efforts to have a place at the table of the marriage issue. The issue does not need to be a concern for everyone. Of course everyone has the right to work on the issues that matter to them most. But your hateful and at times homophobic vitriol towards these people of color is cannibalistic – you may also be in better company with the hate groups mentioned above since you have similar goals in preventing people of color from mobilizing on this issue.
I know first hand the institutionalized racism of lgbt orgs. I’ve worked with several and will continue to work with them because their missions and achievements have a great impact on all of our communities. I am not a token, believe that, and I will always represent the marginalized and the shut-out, because within those orgs I am marginalized and shut-out. Those orgs do not belong to whites, they belong to us all and their missions are too important – people or color need to be involved and lead that work if we are to establish a true and broad sense of justice.
How about working to benefit all families? African Americans are the least “married” people in America. Marriage does not and will not do a thing to better our lot. The stresses and life circumstances that most black people face, both DGL and SGL, make marriage a complicated status. It is less drama to just go with somebody than to marry them. Blacks folks understand all too well, “It’s Cheaper to Keep Her”. For many of us who can’t afford lawyers, the legal dissolution of a marriage is not possible. For many of us, collecting child support is not possible because the child’s father does not have a job. What WILL help black people are: EDNA’s passage, Single Payer Universal Healthcare, passage of the Employee Free Choice Act, the passage of UAFA and allowing two heterosexual single women to come together to build a mutally supportive economic and social unit in which to raise their kids. They shouldn’t have to get married to benefit from social and economic safety nets and goodies we now only afford “married” couples.
Please read Valuing All Familes by Nancy PoliKoff and listen to the above linked lecture. Both she and President Obama know that civil unions/domestic partnerships/civil partnerships should be afforded to all committed couples regardless of sexual orientation. Who gets federal goodies and who doesn’t should not be based on who you havev sex with. A good f*ck may not be a good provider and why should they be? If you can build a stronger and healthier family unit with two grandmas, or two aunties, or two friends, or two siblings…why not? It’s time to VALUE ALL FAMILES!!!
DomPar.org
The Domestic Partnership Initiative is a measure that aims to alter the California legal code by replacing the term “marriage” with “domestic partnership.” This would in turn provide equal rights to all couples regardless of sexual orientation.
The idea behind this compromise is to provide equal rights, without offending the religious community who claim that “marriage” is a religious institution. Thus, “Marriage” itself would become a social ceremony instead of a political institution.
If you support the changes that this measure brings about, we would love to hear from you. We are relying entirely on grassroots campaigning, and thus need your support.
Please click on my moniker above.
we all know about institutionalized racism in white gay organizations and community. LGBT people of color who have had the misfortune to work in any of these gay groups can speak to their experiences of racism. And NO, as a person of color these racist white gays only see your worth in using you as a token so they would never let you lead or be led by a person of color. That is why you saw so much support for Clintor rather then Obama in white gay organizations and community. Now, the racist white gay mafia is demanding accontability from the first black President and is ready to kick every other issue that affects millions of poor people (and of color) on the side so that some white racist wealthy gays can marry.
What is troubling is that these white racist gays hire blk tokens (they are worse then white racist gays) to preach certain messages. White gays could care less about other minorities until prop 8 happened. Even now these racist white gays are busy in strategizing a very racist agenda.
Jas we commend you for showing the courage to speak up which we are sure comes at a price. White gay mafia must be busy in attacking your credibility and silencing you. Thats what these white racist gays do best but all this backfired in their faces. The country is becoming more diverse but white gay mafia is having hard time protecting their exclusive white club and their turf.
Do not let any of these white gay orgs infiltrate your community. Their intentions are suspect. They’d pretend to be caring before stabbing you in the back. White gays have done nothing for people of color including LGBT people of color except marginalizing them.
Thanks Rose, this was the best comment I have read so far. I agree with you 100% In my last post, I mentioned that there is this one-dimensional and essentialist thinking from both sides. Both groups have their hypocrisies. Yes I agree, there is a great deal of racism in White LGBT organizations and among some white LGBT folks.
However, there are some LGBT people of color that do want to get marriage and as you say have a “place at the table of the marriage issue.” If LGBT people of color want to assist in organizing for marriage equality, they should not be labeled as “tokens” or “uncle toms.” Besides, calling other LGBT people of color as “tokens” is not going get us far as a whole.
There are other factors that are more physically and psychologically more threatening to LGBT people of color, aside from racism among white gays. The high rate of HIV/AIDS, and homophobia against LGBT people of color from our own people. Recently, a black transgender woman was attacked by two other black young men near my neighborhood. Just look, at the you tube clip of a young black boy from Connecticut who is undergoing a “gay exorcism” by some so called “prophetess.”
There is homophobia in every society, however homophobia among black people against other black brothers and sisters is more psychologically damaging and soul crushing than dealing with a number of spoiled, entitled white racist gays.
Overall, the racism among white gays is more than valid, but I think we should look in the mirror and face our own hypocrisies first, before we whine about other spoiled privileged whiners.
For those who don’t “get it..” especially the white gay community, let me spell it out:
1) Gay Marriage is NOT a priority in the black lesbian community. Very few of us are involved in a church. Long standing “straight” marriages are very rare for us and we still feel the sting from recent laws against “mixed marriage.”
2) Most of us live in poor neighborhoods, but we stay here because of a strong affiliation with people of our own race and background. We do not “move to W. Hollywood” from all over the country like the white gays and set up artificial communities.
3) As long as white gay men laugh at characters like “Madea” and talk in a pseudo-Ebonics that sounds like Amos and Andy, do not expect that your fawning “hey sister what it is?” comments at work make us trust you in the least. At best, they are insensitive, and usually they are patronizing.
4) When Black gays form gay groups such as the National Black Justice Coalition, where are the “white dollars?” I will tell you, they were sent to HR Clinton, HRC Fund and subscriptions to “Out” “Genre” and “The Advocate”
5) Do NOT send whites or whiteface blacks to us to ask for support for your causes. Leave it to blacks to deal with blacks, and you should donate money and time to understand this.
2) Most of us live in poor neighborhoods, but we stay here because of a strong affiliation with people of our own race and background. We do not “move to W. Hollywood” from all over the country like the white gays and set up artificial communities.
whatever Carla….Some of us have degrees and move “here” for various reasons…including “real deal homo lovin black folk”.
5) Do NOT send whites or whiteface blacks to us to ask for support for your causes. Leave it to blacks to deal with blacks, and you should donate money and time to understand this.
Again Carla: As Rose stated sometimes it is our fellow black brothers and sisters who ARE the problem and as part of the human community in a multicultural city that segregation and exclusive problem solving by the old school establishment blacks that pimp the poor blacks out aint always the answer either.
“We do not “move to W. Hollywood” from all over the country like the white gays and set up artificial communities.”
To this quote above, I simply say… Fuck you and your shameful racist attitude.
“As long as white gay men laugh at characters like ‘Madea’”.
As far as Madea is concerned, well, I’m absolutely positive the character was developed by and is acted by a black man. If you have a problem with white people laughing at Madea, then I suggest you write a letter to Tyler Perry. I doubt he would care though, he’s not so uptight about his race.
Wow
First Jasmyne was mad that the anti-Prop 8 activists weren’t inclusive enough.
Now they are being exploiting black people by being inclusive.
A couple things Jasmyne. For one thing, you are very insular in your politics, equating the wealthy “white gay mafia” in Cali with all gay white men. Why don’t you come to the midwest or the south, where you will find very poor white gay guys who are in no way politically connected and get along just fine with non-white gays.
My Psychoanalysis:
Your obsession with the white gays is paranoid and delusional. You also seem to relish in your victimhood in a rather narcissistic way. It probably makes you feel virtuous, like a martyr. You are secretly afraid of being less oppressed because your oppression is so central to your identity. You are afraid of the “white gay mafia” taking the spotlight off of your particular form of oppression.
You want to know and see racism in America, take a look at this article on the Time Life website:
http://www.life.com/image/85939695/in-gallery/25151/life-goes-inside-todays-kkk
Its sick, horrible, and has absolutely NOTHING to do with “white gays”, gay privilege, or anyone considering going into “your” neighborhoods to get signatures in support of gay marriage.
It is truly awful that in your small closed minds you would even think to equate gay rights groups to this. When you can drop “white” from your descriptions of people, maybe those “white gays” will start to take you more seriously.
White gays are NOT your problem in America.
Here is an article from Afro-Netizen you might find interesting: Same Sex Marriage, Religiosity & Black Civil Rights Orthodoxies
By Sikivu Hutchinson http://www.afro-netizen.com/2009/07/same-sex-marriage-religiosity-black-civil-rights-orthodoxies.html
“#3) You do not have a CLUE what it is like to have to live on the “down low” as so many of our Black brothers do. (Thank you for the AIDS to the unsuspecting Black women in your lives!)”
I don’t think this has anything to do with white gay privilege. The “down low” epidemic is the result of the homophobic epidemic that runs rampant in the black community, and the black church.
Sadly, black brothers and sisters have a harder time coming out, and fear that they will be shunned out of their community and disowned by their families. Not to mention, the typical stereotype that being gay is a “white thing” can also be a factor where if one would come out, they would not only be a sinner, but would sometimes be labeled as a sellout.
All of these reasons are enough to make a black man go into the “hetero-pretense mode, get married, and have a male partner on the side. I’m not condoning the irresponsible behavior of men on the Down low, particularly when sistas are the ultimate victims from this behavior through disease and betrayal. However, it is the anti-gay sentiment within many segments of the black community including the black church, that has planted the seeds of self-hate or internalized homophobia within many closeted black Gays and Lesbians.
Perhaps some privileged white gays might not have a clue on how “DL” brothas are going through, but sadly and honestly that’s our own mess that we created and must deal with.
ok, though jasmyne’s comment is mean, this is what i think she is trying to say:
she is saying that the gay leaders(basically the white gays since that’s all we see on tv) do NOT care about the community at large since they focus MOSTLY on marriage as opposed to say poverty or economic issues that gay people face today.
obviously these issues hit the minority gays more than the whites hence the outrage on her part.
Marriage is the least of the problems of people who are living in proverty or with AIDS. So unless gays of color move up the ladder, they could careless about marriage.
THE END, now back to the fight
I say keep this racist gay organizations out of our communities no matter how racist white gays disguise their groups through those dirty mouthpieces tokens of color who are have absolutely no credibility in communities of color.
And no Jas is smart not to take that 50k job in exchange to sell her name to these racist white gay groups. Acutally, LGBT people of color know the professional conseuqences of working for white gay groups who can ruin their careers. So, most of us say no thanks.
Again, white gays are worse in racism then their hetero counterparts. White gays are more vicious and hateful towards people of color communities including LGBT ones. So, never trust a white gay person with very few exceptions. The test is if they are willing to acknowledge their whiteness and their prejudices and how white gays have treated LGBT people of color. Otherwise, save your community of color from these white gays or any LGBT person of color who they send to invade your space with their racist agenda.
Dont let these white gays infilatrate of our spaces and what we have left!! and you go girl, Jas, don’t let these racists gay folks bring you down, ever!!
Lord, there is so much wrong with this screech (can’t really call it an essay) but I will comment on one item:
“hold the occasional town hall meeting in what they consider to be a “safe” Black neighborhood like Leimert Park or LaDera Heights, all while using Black faces as their pass into our neighborhoods.”
So “safe” black neighborhoods aren’t really black neighborhoods? And working and middle class blacks aren’t really black, is that it, Jasmyne? What a way to start class warfare. This is the exact same criticism that some in the black community in my neck of the woods used to level against our president. Especially comments like “a whiteman in blackface” that I see in the comments here.
So it’s race AND class warfare, Jasmyne?
Fuck you.
Sister, they do the exact same thing with the Native American community, but they are much, much more arrogant about it.
They find some adopted Indian who has never set foot on the rez, who doesn’t know his or her language and culture and who has spent their entire life living among whites and learning how to be white – preferabley one of our “stolen children” who was adopted and raised by proper white folks. Then they get this big old clueless apple, who can’t even introduce themselves properly, to come into our communities and preach to us about how the “two-spirit” people all used to be gods with advanced psychic powers and how we’re all just too drunk and dumb to realize their advanced divinity. They talk at us, not to us. They lecture us about racist middle class white feminism. They assume we’re all too ignorant and superstitious to understand how magnificent their enlightened, well-intentioned asses are and then they leave.
That’s when we have the REAL meeting. That’s when our political leaders make fun of their arrogance and pretense. That’s when we do our own counter-orgainzing. As long as white gays refuse to deal with their “shadows” – arrogant cultural imperialism – and stop appropriating our spiritualities and philosophies for their self-serving narrow political agenda, Native people are going t be dead set against their political agenda.
I am so weary of these wannabes trying to infiltrate our communites. Keep right on making fun of their audacity. I admire you for having to courage to put it right out there in cyber-space. I learned a long time ago, that whenever we have one white gay trying to help us see things his/her way, we have to take the real meetings underground. You can’t trust these fools as far as you can throw them.
At least you don’t have to deal with white gays (and their assimilated counter-parts) who are convinced they were a sacred Zulu Princess in a past life and are channeling cosmic widsom to you! At least they don’t try to tell you their the “New White Africans” that your prophesies talked about
……. yet.
Keep your spirit strong
Thanks for the chuckle!
most communities of color have such bad experiences with white gays. I agree with you A.L. I would NOT trust white gays for nothing and because of my bad experiences with these white gays running these gay groups I just don’t let any white gay person near me and I make sure to let my fellow LGBT people of color know about my experiences so we all can be aware and cautious around white gays and their racism. As I say white gays are even worse then their hetero counterparts and more vicious towards people of color including LGBT folks of color.
I have tried to understand the hatred of white gays to find a middle ground with them but the only conclusion I can draw is these white gays with their huge sense of self-entitlement, supremacist attitudes and their narrow, limited view of gay issues are a lost cause and they bring nothing but their hatred of our communities. It is impossible to work with them and it would take a bold gay leader to challenge racism and that would happen soon with changing voting patterns in this country and when white gay mafia would realize that they just can’t survive in their little, white and wealthy enclaves that they have created.
Jas, your rants and the comments responding to them are always good entertainment.
For the black gays who are so highly critical of the racist white gays (i.e., all of them), I believe many of you are playing the victim and blaming racism for your decision to stay in the closet and refuse to challenge homophobia in the black community. For all the “hood pride” I’m seeing in this thread, I wonder if those people have your back as much as you appear to have theirs?
Jas, you’re obviously an expert on how black gays ought to be living and thinking. Are you forming a gay version of the Black Panther Party (oops, bad example: they relied heavily on white support) to spread your wisdom among the masses?
