Random Thoughts: Only in L.A. is Rain A Breaking News Story

Whenever it rains in Los Angeles–that’s the lead news story.  It never fails, including this morning.  If I hear, “we’re on storm track this morning,” or “we’re on storm watch” or any variation of the two–I am going to scream.

I remember when I was in Sierra Leone, it rained like I had never ever seen it rain before–and it was hot outside.  I mean that rain came down something wicked.  But do you think that it kept people indoors or was a breaking news story?  Not a chance, it was business as usual, barefoot and all.

Even when I am on the east coast and it snows–snows, not rains, snows–it’s not breaking news.  People just get up, dig their cars out and go on about their business.

For the record–I am a native Angelino.  L.A. has never seen rain like some parts of this world see all of the time, yet when it does rain, we act like it’s a tornado, cyclone, or hurricane.  I could only imagine what would happen if by chance it snowed and I mean really snowed in L.A. and people had to actually dig their cars out and worse yet–drive in it.

Now that’d be a breaking news story–only because of the amount of accidents that we’d have in one day.

Lol.

The only people I feel sorry for when it rains are the homeless people who are stuck out in it and the news reporters who are forced to go and stand in it and cover it, ABC 7s Amy Powell looked awfully cold this morning.  Brrr girl.

By the way–I just screamed!
