So Long Trader Joe’s and Hello Fresh & Easy!

I have officially ceased to be a die hard Trader Joe’s customer. I knew this day was coming after I heard the news last year that
Now don’t get me wrong, I used to love Trader Joe’s. Every Sunday after hiking you could catch me on LaBrea and Third faithfully. But when I found out that the folks that run Trader Joe’s had no interest in coming into the underserved communities, I lost a little love for them. It turns out that they’re not that socially conscious after all.
So in comes Tesco with Fresh & Easy. My boy Craig hipped me to them last year and I did my homework.
Fresh & Easy stores are designed to serve all types of neighborhoods, including those that
have been traditionally underserved. That’s why they opened one in
Like Trader Joe’s, they offer their Fresh & Easy label products. They even have their own version of 2 Buck Chuck, lol. The produce is great and I love the meat and fish selection. But unlike Trader Joe’s, Fresh & Easy stores also sells the national brands that we’re accustomed to seeing at traditional grocers.
For the past three weeks, I have been shopping at the Fresh & Easy in
I think it’s great that finally communities that are underserved have access to food that just as good if not better than the food that’s available in stores in other neighborhoods.
Favorites of mine are the Tiramisu dessert and maple pecan granola cereal. Another plus is that their pre-made salads are larger than the ones I get at Trader Joe’s and cheaper.
I also am really digging the fact that each store has a budget to donate to organizations in their immediate community, and their employees start at $10 an hour and are all eligible for 401k and medical benefits.
There are locations all over
Anyone else check out Fresh & Easy yet?
Fresh & Easy’s official website is www.freshandeasy.com.

I care and so should you. The store is economical and has food available that supports a healthier lifestyle. Before this store, if you wanted better food choices, you has to travel several miles. This means we don’t have to be tied to food that onlt\y gives us high blood pressure and diabetes. There is finally a choice!

I think you’re going to have to require a google email sign in or something to get these fools off your site.
Its about time and someone with a clue has come to under served neighborhoods, Safeway for years would not venture into black and Latino neighborhoods here in the Bay Area, and, now that Fresh and easy has made the bold move, they are “rethinking’ this strategy. Odd how corporate America works, when the bottom line has always been a dollar. I too love Trader Joe’s but, have issues with most of its food coming from China and not being labeled as so, SF Chronicle did a spread about this.
Please get that racist, ignorant fool, North Florida Noose, off this blog!!!! I am glad to hear about Fresh & Easy. Thank you.
This is fabulous and necessary.
Looks good. Maybe they will come to GA.
….and Jersey!
Hey Jasmyne – thanks so much for the shout out! We believe that everyone deserves to have fresh and healthy food, no matter where you live. We wrote about you in our Fresh & Easy blog too…
First of all I d’like to say. This blogs have lots of imfomation and thay all imfomation is very important for me.
I have a Fresh and Easy right down the street from me and the produce and meat/fish sections ARE very good and reasonably priced. My only irritation is having to SELF CHECK out…it’s inconvenient and cumbersome and I don’t like it. It prevents me from going into the store unless I have “the time” to deal with the hassle.
Love F&E, the food and prices are good BUT yes I agree with one more person in here about the SELF checkout. This is the one and only reason I admit AVOID going to fresh and easy cos my first day there was absolutely chaos!
