As a Black female, I find it hard to take seriously the national outrage over Jackson’s comments when we don’t exhibit the same outrage over brothas in our own community who have done far worse simply because we like their music or they are a sports athlete.
I’m not hating on rapper Nas for trying to take on Fox’s racist coverage of the Obamas…but if I recall correctly, it wasn’t that long ago that this same person was defending his decision to name is new album, Nigger while on the red carpet at the Grammys.

I’m up early to watch my girls Venus and Serena Williams play each other in the Wimbledon Ladies Singles Final…watching them both walk onto the court together was sweet! Wish I was there. But hey—no matter who loses, a Williams is going to win. After the match it’s off to the beach. Good morning.
Okay so the 26th Outfest Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Film Festival officially concluded Monday. While I didn’t get to attend as many of the events as I wanted too (there’s only 24 hours to each day), I did manage to make the screening of my short film The Incredibly True Adventures of Sistas of the Canyon and Hanifah Walidah’s U People on Friday at the Directors Guild of America…and I was on good—no make that great company. Isaiah came through as well as my cousin Kelly (pictured above). But more importantly, some of my girls from the film were there including everyone’s favorite Amera and DJ Kristi Lomax (happy birthday Kristi!!!) and some folks I hadn’t seen in a while that I was surprised to see come out for the screening.
If I were a songwriter, I’d write songs like Little Jackie. Real, to the point, while taking no prisoners along the way. From Black Barbie to my new theme song 28 Butts and LOL, Little Jackie is telling it like it is.
Released July 8, on the surface, The Stoop is their catchy new pop album. [...]
So like with any other kind of addiction, there’s always a chance of a relapse and those in recovery will always be in recovery. Case in point—my addiction to McDonald’s french fries. I’m not proud of it, but let me tell you that I slipped back into my habit of eating french fries on a daily basis. Before I knew it, I was at 174 pounds, 8 pounds from where I was. Yeah, I know but what are you gonna do? They are so damn good.
Okay so let me get this right.
$4.2 million dollars is going to be used to fixed cracks in concrete that feature the names of celebrities who are either dead or they themselves are millionaires.
I don’t know about you, but something just doesn’t sound right about that, especially considering the fact that the very same slabs of concrete that are in question, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, also serve as a bed for thousands of homeless men and women who call Hollywood their home.
New music video for salsa king Hector Lavoe’s classic “Mi Gente”.
Up for discussion, Barack Obama travels to Iraq for on-the-ground assessments; the oldest black sorority gets a Barbie doll for its 100th birthday, and Michelle Obama tries her hand at blogging.
